Google Penguin update may 2013

Fourth Google Penguin Update 2.0, First Penguin Update of 2013

Hi webmasters, Google should be happy because they have announced the 4th release of “Google Penguin Update” “spam-fighting”. But there is some twist in Google Penguin update 4, It is has been rolled out with Penguin 2.0-technology under the cover, which Google describing as it is a new era of technology that should be stopping spam better than before.

Google’s head of spam department Matt Cutts already announced the new Google Penguin 2.0 update during last week on his tweeter profile through a tweet. He was assuring of new Google Penguin Update 2.0 is rolling out soon, which will be the next generation Penguin update.

In his new post on a blog, Matt Cutts added more details on Google Penguin 2.0, saying that the rolling-out is almost completed and will be affecting 2.3% of English queries and that it affects non US English queries as well. He said:

“We have started rolling out the next generation of the Google Penguin spam algorithm this afternoon “22 may, 2013” and this rollout of new Google Penguin is complete. Around 2.3% of queries from English US are affected. The change has also finished rolling out for other-languages worldwide. The scope of Penguin varies by language, e.g. languages with more web spam will see more impact.”

This is the 4th Google Penguin related update launch has done, but as this is an up-dated algorithm and not just a Data-Refresh, we have been referring to this change as Penguin 2.0 within.

Previous Penguin Updates:

Here is a list of Google updates of Penguin which have been rolled-out so far:

  • Penguin 1 on April 24, 2012 “impacting ~3.1% of queries”
  • Penguin 2 on May 26, 2012 “impacting less than 0.1%”
  • Penguin 3 on October 5, 2012 “impacting ~0.3% of queries”
  • Penguin 4 on May 22, 2013 “impacting 2.3% of queries”

But after the 1st release, the 2nd and 3rd still were data refreshes of the same basic Penguin algorithm with only minor changes. This 4th release is a major change, so big that Google has referred to it as Google Penguin 2.0 internally.

Optimizing Your Social Profile with Powerful Content for Great SEO Results

Optimizing Your Social Profile with Powerful Content for Great SEO Results?

When you want to be heard among a crowd full of people, the bullhorn won’t help you take centre stage anymore. Neither will a crowd full of social activists want to hear you yak about your newly discovered online marketing strategies.

How Do You Apply The Above Scenario To SEO?

  1. The person with the most pleasant voice is given the microphone; he/she doesn’t need to grab it. This means that if your content is interesting and it captivates your readers, more readers will come to you.

  1. Choose a relevant platform to market your website, for example, a social networking platform. Among the diversity of people present on social networking sites, you are bound to find at least a handful of people who share the same interests as you do. These people will read the interesting content that you share on your social networking platform.

Using social media as your microphone and powerful content as your interesting and pleasant voice, you can achieve great SEO results.

Let us take a look at how you can:

  1. Achieve measurable SEO results
  2. Increase website traffic
  3. Create a prestigious name for your brand
  4. Garner a large fan following
  5. Increase business operations, hence, make more profit

With the aid of 2 powerful online marketing tools:

  1. Social Media
  2. Powerful Content

Driving SEO to Success with Content as Your Accelerator

Did you know that all the fancy algorithms of Google, Yahoo and Bing prefer interesting content over boring content? Yes, keeping your content interesting helps you perform better in the test of search rankings. It also brings larger audiences to your website / blog / social networking platforms and ultimately gives you the SEO results you’ve always wanted.

Let’s take a look at an example to demonstrate this.

Scenario A: Suppose you own a ‘content writing business’ and you want people out there to know about you and also solicit clients for your business. Along with your own website, you also have a social networking profile on Facebook. Each time you create samples of content for your website, you also post the content on Facebook and solicit followers to read that content.

If your content is relevant, captivating right from the introduction, interesting, swift, not too fluffy, crisp and original, people are sure to enjoy your content and share it with their friends. From here begins a chain starting from your initial followers to potential followers (some of which may be possible clients for your business).

When word goes around that your work is good, followers will come to you. You are thus building social recognition for your business using social media, you are increasing your clientele and you are generating profits for your business.

Social signals are used by search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing to determine search rankings. When there is a lot of activity on your social networking profile, you become more visible to search engines with high chances for a greater rank on the Search Results Page.

This applies to every business out there; those that have already conquered the online business marketing world and those that are taking their baby steps in the field. With rich content on social networking platforms, you can take your business forward.

Types of Content That You Can Distribute On Social Platforms

When you share content on social networking sites, you need not stick only to articles. There is a wide range of content that you can share on your website and your social platforms to garner followers, increase website traffic and your page rank for effective SEO results.

Thus, you can share:

  • Blog Posts
  • Articles
  • Videos
  • Info-graphics
  • Images
  • Slideshows
  • Reviews
  • Product / Service Descriptions
  • Case Studies
  • Short Stories
  • Charts
  • Diagrams
  • Press Releases
  • Guest Blogs

How to Distribute Your Content on Social Platforms?

When you create an online presence on a single social networking site like Facebook, it will be beneficial to your business. However, when you reach out to your audience with the aid of multiple social platforms, you distribute your content across various social platforms.

The more social media accounts, the more followers you have and the more exposure you create for your business. And most importantly – your social signals increase, thus increasing your page rank.

You can distribute Content online via:

  • The Company Website
  • Facebook
  • Pinterest
  • Twitter
  • Youtube
  • Google+
  • LinkedIn

How Do You Benefit By Sharing Interesting Content On Social Media Platforms?

When you share interesting content on social media platforms, it translates into:

  • +1s
  • Likes
  • Retweets
  • Subscribes
  • Votes
  • Shares
  • Links
  • Comments
  • Mentions
  • Views

Each of these actions count as your social signals and as stated earlier, social signals determine search rankings. Also, those who like your content will surely visit your website, translating into high website traffic. This can also bring potential customers knocking on your doorstep, thus, benefitting your business.

Reasons Why Duplicate Content is Bad for SEO

Duplicate Content SEO

When you have a well written article which you are very happy about, you may think that you should upload it in many places on the internet to get a wider audience. While it could be a good idea in the print media, when it comes to the internet it is not so. Search engines can identify the duplicate content and it will affect badly for the websites for having duplicate content. And it most definitely will affect the search engine rankings as well.

There are hundreds of thousands of articles in the internet. It is inevitable that you might have similar sentences in various articles. But that is not what we are talking about when it comes to internet duplication. Duplicate content means when large chunks of articles exist exactly the same way in documents in different domains.

Google has no personal grudge against those who copy and paste. Just it is a matter of Google’s wanting to offer a better service for the internet users. When the internet gets filled with various copies of the same information it will make it difficult for people to find the information they are looking for. Also it will be a waste of internet space which is filled with copies of the same information. So Google and other leading search engines filter the pages and reward the pages that are indexed first.

That is why the content is a very vital element for SEO ranking. The SEO companies are hiring more and more copywriters and just copywriting is not enough. Those who can write interesting and unique copywriting get special attention from those companies. More unique your content are, more you will rewarded by the search engines. So the quality of content is taken very seriously.

To make things ever easier now Google has a special “footprint” system that gives more weight to the first instance a particular piece of content appears on the index. This policy has been embraced warmly by the copywriters because it helps to secure them from those who often copy and paste the content written after a lot of tedious researching and brainstorming.

In addition to those ethical reasons regarding the web content, there are other reasons why one should be careful about duplicate content, mainly because of duplicate content penalty. Some unethical webmasters and spammers create hundreds of bogus pages which act as doorway pages. Such pages are almost the same page which has been slightly edited to look like different pages and the key words embedded to gain back links. Such content considered as deceptive and search engines penalize those sites by banning the domain. That is why the reputed SEO writing companies take web content writing very seriously. Not only it gets good results from the search engine it gives a proper representation of the website giving a clear picture of the product or service for the visitors. Having good search engine ranking will not be useful when the visitors cannot get a clear idea about the products and services offered on the website.

SEO Experts: Google is getting Smarter than you

Google is getting Smarter than you

I am sure that Google is the biggest website on the internet with a Hugh Database Centers all over the world and as you can expect it is the ever biggest search engine over the internet world, therefore when it comes to SEO, Google is talk about with such importance. There might be many changes that have occurred within the SEO practices and techniques, tactics change and develop, peoples get smarter and look for more and more exact things on the web so getting links is a little bit more hard than it once was, but the most theatrical changes happen when Google changes.

The biggest and oldest search engine has gotten a lot smarter, and caught on to all our old-techniques, once a time when things were very different then now, when you could post your website links on as many websites/directories etc as possible, and the number of back links would bump up your rankings, copied, borrowed and duplicated  content would be enough to point to your website to the passing Google searchers so long as it was stuffed with number of keywords, and off-course this provided yet another possibility to fill a page with back links. Social media optimization was an un-important thing that no-one really understood and no-one knew how to find best techniques to optimize through them, so was for the most part left out of the SEO-equation.

Though in current circumstances things are quite different and SEO is becoming more and more complicated procedure to figure-out, surely if you are looking for your SEO to be performed effectively in a way that will in-fact provide you with worth-while traffic. Google Search Engine has made its stand on the SEO practices and techniques that once existed and now insists on high quality over quantity of links, something that will no doubt benefit the users themselves but will surely make things hard for the business and company owners who are fighting to get more traffic on their website pages.

When it comes to back-links it is absolutely High quality over quantity, Google Algorithms once searched through registered domains and websites looking for keywords, then all the websites linked to those domain and websites and so on and so onward. Now it does all of that finds the web pages with the unique and fresh content, match the keywords but not using them overly regularly, verify  the number of links to those domain and websites and on those websites and judges based on traffic and visits and use whether this is a trusted and safe website. In search engine, search results come-up as the trusted websites and off- course web pages linked to by trusted domain or websites, with all the rubbish and spam coming up in last far place and most likely being banned. This means a slower and steady link building and approach to back linking needs to be adopted and the whole SEO back linking procedure becomes more time consuming.

Fresh and unique content has always been considered of high-importance but now it is even more necessary that time and deliberation be put into it, not only ensuring that the content is fresh and unique, interesting, relevant and appealing for visitors  but also frequently updated. Web pages that are not updated are frequently pushed further down even at the last in the results, whereas pages with new, fresh and unique content appear higher, to this end you should ensure that your content is updated often and maintained to current principles, to ensure the best possible results from your SEO strategy and unique content efforts. This is where Social content can help, when it comes to things like social media optimization (SMO), forums and blogs, Social Networks, they are considered current and are normally updated frequently as a matter of routine, so including such features in your website pages or using them to link to your domain or website is a great way of rising your chances of being recognized by the search engines.

Finally, be unique and different. Not only does this make sure that your content is fresh and unique but should you find some good-strategies to assume that are unlike your competitors you will get quite different SERP results, which could mean you are doing better than them and be successful. Google does not care about how long and for time the page been existed, how big the company or brand is or who they are in competition with??, you will be ranked according to the SEO efforts you put in to it, if you are doing the same techniques and tactics as your competitors why should Google rank you better than you?

Google-Panda-Update-25

Google Panda update 25 on its way

Looks like Google update is being pushed out last Thursday, as most of the webmaster are talking about that there is major update has been rolling out because they are facing a big ranking drop and boost in rankings on last 2 to 3 days. We just received several emails regarding Google Panda update since last 2 today’s and tried to contact Google but did not get any update on Google Panda update, this maybe the 2nd Panda update for 2013 as first Google Panda update was rolled out on January 22, 2013

We are not sure about this was the last manually updated Google Panda refresh or if it is already fully integrated into the normal Google indexes process. It looks like Google’s last manual push and might not do manual pushes of the algorithm in the future.

How To Utilise Guest Blogging For SEO Traffic

guest-blogging-seowagon

Guest blogging is a hot topic at the moment within the SEO community. There are many people out there that know of its power but just haven’t gotten round to doing it. This post will hopefully highlight some ways you can make guest blogging work for you and utilise it for the most efficiency.

Relevancy Is Key

When you’re thinking about targeting specific websites to get your content on always consider if they are relevant. Many successful websites get spam mail every day and if yours doesn’t stand out, chances are it’s not going to get read. You should try and overcome this by only contacting people who have an audience that will appreciate what you’re writing about.

So for instance if you offer travel insurance it might be useful to contact travel bloggers to see if you can get your article placed on their website. However, be wary of some webmasters as they can often ask for payment that is of an extortionate amount.

Test Your Email Responses

One of the first things that you should test is most certainly the subject line of your email and then the content. Many webmasters will judge you just off this so you should be sure to actually get right to the point. In many instances it has been found that shorter and more concise emails are more persuasive and get better responses. So if you stick to the point and tell them exactly what you’re after and their potential benefits, they’ll be more likely to help you out.

Write Valuable Content

The main value proposition in any guest post is the actually content. If you don’t have content that is going to be of any use to their target audience then don’t bother sending. This also relates to the first point of actually considering what audience they have and if they are relevant.

All of the content that you send out for guest posts should be unique and tailored to their audience. In some instances you can even ask the webmaster if you can write them an original piece of content.

Make A New Friend

One of the most effective ways to gain links and share audiences and traffic is to gain relationships within your niche. Developing relationships within your niche means that you’ll have access to a larger pool of people, normally by the click of a send button. When relationships become a win-win situation you’ll both be helped out.

This is normally in the instance where they might write content for you and you’ll write content for them. This effect becomes even larger when you know an authoritative figure.

These are a few tips for guest posting in 2013. You should make sure that you’re always following Google’s guidelines and thinking about what’s best for your users. You don’t want to get into a situation where you are accepting any type of guest post on your website. You also don’t want to be putting out poor content to be associated with your name. Getting the balance right is key!

Why You Shouldn’t Pay Attention To Your SERP Ranking

search engine rankings

How many search companies are there who ‘guarantee’ you a page one ranking or even a first place ranking on Google, Bing, Ask, or another search engine?  We don’t know exactly, but put it this way, a lot of the time these guarantees aren’t met.

In fact, it is amazing that many companies still get away with making such promises, which is why we would always suggest staying away from them at all costs.

Anyway, if you are spending a lot of time fretting over where you rank on Google for particular keywords, you are wasting your time. Not because having a good search engine ranking isn’t important – of course it is – but because you could be spending time doing other things that will have a much bigger impact on your company right now.

Yes, search is important, and ranking on page one could mean limitless additional revenues, but you shouldn’t obsess about it to the point of insanity.

We looked at why.

Personalized Search

You’ve heard about how the internet is becoming more consumer focused, and that it will continue to move in this direction in 2013. While we cannot yet say that search results are 100% customized to ourselves, they are heavily influenced by previous search history, behavior on social networking sites, where you live, and much more.

Even something as innocuous as whether you are signed into your Google+ or Gmail account can have an impact on where you appear. You cannot possibly control whether someone has signed in or synchronized their browser, so don’t lose too much sleep about personalized search.

Rankings Change

Search engines don’t just update themselves at midnight each day. They are constantly working, indexing new content, finding new links, and deciding that one site should rank above another, or one should be relegated into the backwaters of page three and beyond.

Google update their algorithm over 400 times in a year, meaning SEO is not a perfect science and that you will never be able to keep up with everything. At the same time, there are again things beyond your control that can influence your ranking, such as press coverage and how your content is shared on social media.

Irrelevant Rankings

We turn back to the SEO companies that guarantee you that you will rank first or on page one within a week of signing their deal.

One common way they do this is to make your site rank for reasonably well searched for, yet low in competition, terms. Yes, you might well rank top for a number of keywords, but this is where relevancy comes into play. If you are selling clothes for teenagers and want to rank highly in your local area, there isn’t much point in ranking highly for adult clothes or baby clothes, for example.

It is better to rank a little lower for relevant keywords that will actually bring your site traffic and sales, than higher for meaningless ones that won’t make you any money. Thorough keyword research, whether conducted by yourself or an SEO company, will ensure that your rankings are always relevant.

A high search result is great, but it should not be the only measure of your online performance and success.
